Beautiful post on this day of great sadness, Sydney. You're finding a path that you know to be right and I am glad that you are sharing it. I honestly believe that we are 'the many' who are waking to what needs to be done to change direction. We were doing it with Kamala just before we lost the wind in our sails. I believe that our time will come again. Let us be prepared to know what we want for our country and our people to be the best we can be.

Yes, good words, Sandy. The sorrow hits hard, and history shows such a high likelihood of some really grim destruction. But also, midterms will arrive quickly, and I do hold hope that energy and tides will turn, and I keep looking for opportunities to join my voice to others in my community. There are definitely a lot of great voices speaking out right now and continuing to press towards a more hopeful future 💕

Sydney, I try to feed my soul at times like this with whatever I can find that lifts my spirit. Here's a post from Jeanne Malmgren today that feels like a way to move when the going gets tough. And who knows, maybe a way to find like minded souls. :-)

Dear Sydney. Love and peace to you and your family. I hold the view that the great lights of our history like Jesus, Buddha, Guanyin and the many not known whose commitment to loving the sacred within each person and being of Nature, actually hold our human family up and support our continued existence. We come from Love, it is actually how and why we exist. If that is true, and I think it is, our only way forward is to love. How? I think we will each be called by Life to find small and/or big ways to show it. It doesn't take sadness away but it perhaps shows us what direction to look. Blessings and love to your family Sydney.

Thank you, Don! Good to have company, though I’m sorry about it has to be in this place 😂😢

Yeah, I’m sorry, too. I notice you’ve decided to use your Substack platform to speak out against this threat to peace, democracy, and human beings, and I just want to say, I support you. It’s a brave choice, and I don’t mean because it’s dangerous (but who knows what this administration will bring), but rather because first, it opens you to negative push back (have you gotten any yet?), and second, because it can really change the quality of your days while at the same time you never really know if you’re making a difference. I’m speaking of my own fears, not judging yours. Again, I admire and respect you, and I’m really glad you’re on the side of compassion, kindness, and logic. I am, too, and I’m hoping I’m correct in believing that my choice to model such behavior without verbally addressing the cruelty and insanity of our leadership is enough.

Good points, Don. I’ve received a little push back, though not a lot. I had a long comments chat with a Trump supporter - other negative commenters appeared to be fake accounts or bots. Mostly, I hear from like-minded individuals, and it’s comforting for both of us to know we’re not the only ones 🤣

I have only ever been able to write when something is pressing on my heart. Nature Moments is a natural project for me, because I’m almost always overflowing with nature amazement :) And then, when the political environment shifted into deeply wrong territory, other words started filling my heart. To me, sharing the truth in the ways and opportunities that we are given, especially when truth is under attack, is always the right thing to do. And that does look different for each of us, and different over time.

“you never really know if you’re making a difference” is like the story of my life!🤣 “I’m hoping I’m correct in believing that my choice to model such behavior without verbally addressing the cruelty and insanity of our leadership is enough.” I am sure that it is! There's no one answer, and each of us have different paths. The fact that you're contemplating it is the evidence that you're on the right track, and if something changes for you, you'll notice :) Your faithfulness in your spaces will always be doing good in the world 💕

What a beautiful and kind response, thank you, Sydney! Your comment that you only write from your heart reflects something I just read and highlighted last night in Emerson’s essay, “Spiritual Laws.” (Pardon the male pronouns. Emerson is full of them!)

“‘Look in thy heart, and write.’ He that writes to himself writes to an eternal public. That statement only is fit to be made public which you have come at in attempting to satisfy your own curiosity. The writer who takes his subject from his ear, and not from his heart, should know that he has lost as much as he seems to have gained…”

Thanks so much for sharing this quote, Don. (I am blissfully unbothered by the pronouns 🤣) This really speaks to me, and it's funny that the timing lines up in this way - wavelengths are converging!

“keeping an eye out for those scattered few who see things the same way.” I’ve been reading more than a scattering today of this commitment to love, integrity and truth. May it expand so it’s not hard for anyone to feel it or see it.

You are so right, Kimberly, thankfully there are many voices I connect with online that are sharing this same truth! I had in mind my sadly deep-red rural community, where those who are not avid Trump loyalists are few and far between. 😢

Oy yes. That can feel pretty bleak.

It’s true - I honestly think it’s one of the best possible uses of the internet, this ability to connect with others like you with that shared “commitment to love, integrity and truth,” even when they are very sparse in my physical community. It’s encouraging 💕

I feel all of this, Sydney. The sadness is overwhelming, and the shock horror of last time has been replaced by a deep fear of what's to come. It's time to dig deep and guard our sources of joy and strength. We're going to need it.

Thank you so much, Maria, you are so right 💕 I've seen this meme circulating that says "I don't feel the same way I felt in 2016 - I feel the same way I felt when the second plane hit the towers." 😢
