I always get excited when I see them. Imagine my excitement when I learned that this year they’ve chosen the tree across the street to live in. There’s a family of four I see coming and going these days. Just wonderful.
I love everything about this! Living in Ontario gives me ample opportunity to see these gorgeous creatures at my feeder but like you, I’ve never been able to snap a photo - so kudos for getting these gems 🩵they love peanuts too. :)
Thanks so much, Mohika! I firmly believe that it only takes a single connection with a bird to fall in love 🤣 So glad to have you over here on the bird-lover side 💕
Very nice, Sydney, thank you! A few weeks ago at my job I finished up for the day, and because it's such a beautiful location—a primitive 14-acre camp on a lake—I decided to sit in the screen porch and write on my laptop. After who knows how long there was a sudden disturbance beside me. I glanced down and there was a blue jay who had just flown right in through the open screen door and landed no more than three fee away! The second we each realized the oops, he flew back out. That was a rare close encounter!
(BTW, for some reason I was no longer subscribed to Nature Moments. No wonder I haven't heard from you in a while! I just resubscribed. 💚
Really nice captures of Blue Jays, Sydney! I get one you mean by them being a little too observant and clever to allow photos too easily. It's almost as though they sense that's what we want to do and they do everything they can to do the opposite! :)
Oh, the Blue! the Blue!!! What was expected to be a drab, wet, curser-driven day, just became a moment of Blue Joy! Those "little whiskers under the beak" made me giggle with pleasure. Thank you, Sydney, for your patience to capture divine beauty that invites me to be grateful for the magic in this world.
These are great photos; I have only been able to get one decent photo of a blue jay. These Corvids are not ones to stop and chit-chat. They are all business.
Incredible photos Sydney! It's not your imagination, Blue Jays can be quite judgmental!
Thanks so much, Sandra! I know, right? They've got the eyebrows for it 🤣

Same here, Jared! Oh my goodness, how perfect, you get to know them so much better when they move in next-door!

Thanks so much, Grace! They really are wonderful, and I'm definitely going to try peanuts and see what happens.
Yes, and also almonds and walnuts.
Aaahh what a joy reading this! You've converted me from bird-neutral to bird lover I must tell you that!!

Absolutely stunning! They are such pretty birds - and smart. They love our chicken feed and get in there whenever the girls aren’t around!
Thank you, Tara! Oh, I bet they do - what a nice bonus, to have Blue Jays as a side effect of keeping chickens 🤣
Gorgeous details of a beautiful bird! Patience and persistence paid off ;-)
Thanks so much, Joni!

Thanks so much, Don! Oh my goodness, what a funny encounter! It's so nice when we & our wild neighbors get to be equally surprised by each other 🤣
How funny, thanks for letting me know - and welcome back!

Thanks so much, Neil! Exactly, just purely mischievously contrary birds 🤣

Thanks so much, Kate, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! And I am so glad I'm not the only one who is just delighted by the whiskers 🤣 💕
How wonderful! I’m so thrilled for you. And for your lovely visitors. Happy, happy sigh.
Thanks, Beth! It was so fun, feisty little jays 🤣
Amazing shots, Sydney! Well worth getting on the blue jays’ nerves! 😂
Thanks so much, Sara! I'm sure they thought so, too 🤣
They are so lovely!

Oh that is so true, Perry 🤣 We humans are just lucky to be a fly-by on their jam-packed schedules! 🤣
Ah loved it!!!!! Beautiful
Thanks so much, Ian!
Thank you for sharing the beautiful jays! 😊
I'm so glad you enjoyed them, Jacqueline!
I also adore Blue Jays! Great photos.
