OK...I am sold...chives in our garden when spring arrives ...winter now here....but I too love chives. Thank you Sydney for your beautiful beautiful work and love of Mother Earth.
I love chives too! I have them everywhere in the garden, in the veg patch, in the corner of flower beds, under fruit trees... they are incredibly easy going, spread themselves generously, taste amazing, both greens and flowers, and, yes, they are just beautiful and an insect magnet.
Thanks so much, Sara! So good to connect with a fellow chives-aficionado!🤣 I am a big fan of easy plants in the farm/garden, and you’re right, chives are wonderful in all the ways!
Yes to planting Chives! We love going outside to clip a few whenever we need them. Once planted they continue to self seed, also give starts away to our neighbors,
Our front yard is full of herbs for the benefit of humans, birds and insects. They also keep the deer away😊
Thank you Sydney! Working in the garden helps keeps me healthy and we get to share herbs, artichokes and lettuce with some of our neighbors or we leave it at the post office
Lovely photos, thank you Sydney! I’ve seen some recipes that use chive blossoms and this post is inspiring me to try some of them out. Do you ever use the blossoms for things like vinegars, salads, etc.?
I’m so happy to hear that, Tina! I put the blossoms on everything lol. It’s so fun to me to have that delicious onion flavor - from cute pink flower petals! I usually nip the back off to separate the florets and then sprinkle them on anything that I like onions with. Salads, soups, on a bagel with cream cheese. You’re going to have so much fun!
so lovely!! and I couldn't agree more, it is such a gift to have any creature "treat you like just another weed in the garden," well said! ♡
Thanks so much, Niquelle!
Stunning. Happy sigh. 🤗🤗

That’s so wonderful, Stacey. We also like to have things planted all over that you can nibble from 🤣 As you say, it’s just good for all of us!
