What a beautiful encounter with the pelicans! The way you captured the moment with your camera make it feel like I was right there. It's amazing how nature can provide such unique and meaningful moments, even in seemingly mundane situations. Thank you Sydney, for sharing this lovely experience.
Thanks for sharing! Oh my! What sacred birds. What a sacred encounter. I love the photos. I love Pelicans. They were dying off our california coast for "mysterious illness" that I think is related to human chemicals. My heart cracks into 5 million pieces. I do not want to live in a world without them.
Same, Nessa, Pelicans are just so incredibly special. I read about that, and it made me so sad. I hope they will recover 😢 I was in the Pacific Northwest when they had an outbreak of wasting diseases that completely decimated the starfish - but after a couple of years, they made a strong recovery, so I hold onto hope through stories like that (though life unfortunately does not always deliver happy endings) 💕
I live in the Philippines. I remember seeing one at Clark Safari, Pampanga. Among all the animals I saw at the zoo, the Great White Pelican stood out to me. There's something special about pelicans...
Agreed! I enjoy all kinds of birds and creatures, each with its own little personality when you take a moment to notice it - but pelicans really are something else :) What are some of your favorite wild creatures in the Philippines?
My favorite are the Maya birds. You'll see a lot of them here. I love observing them outside as I drink my morning coffee. How about you, anything else aside from pelicans?
Nice! Now that we’re home in Maine which is pretty far north, we have a similar bird to your Mayas - we have Black-capped Chickadees that are here year-round that we see every day. They’re like our little buddies, we kind of get to know their individual personalities :) They get used to us and will take sunflower seeds from the hand. Right now, we have a treat in that a group of Blue Jays has been visiting the sunflower seed feeders each day. It’s so nice to see them up close!

Thank you! I'm so glad it came across, and I was able to share this little moment with you :)
Haha! I love this pelican! Great work capturing a special character.
Thank you!
