Love this! We are indeed only a tiny part of the bigger picture. But I also love the reminder that tiny steps matter. Any small step takes a further towards the goal. Thank you!
Really nice post and that tiny-ness pervades everything in some sense. I think of that tiny-ness containing the world sometimes when I look at something like a pinecone or see a small Warbler here in spring. The pine cone contains so much of what came before it but also the potential for what will come after it. Similarly with the Warbler. Migrating across thousands of miles over and over, with predecessor as well as potential offspring for the future. To think of all of the connections is astounding.
So true, such a fun trail to follow. I like looking closely at pine cones because they come from that giant tree - and they contain the future giant trees like you said - and they have all that exquisite tiny detail in each pine cone petal. And yes, the warbler, what an amazing example, tiny birds on vast migrations. So cool! Thanks for sharing, and giving me even more tiny-in-a-big-world things to ponder :)
Such a nice post. Bless you for caring for your mother. Such times inform us of the many things we have not yet to think about and need time to take in. In our modern times, it is often skipped in families that are diced and sliced beyond recognition and which cannot be easily learned in any other way.
After my father passed, I brought his cat home to live with me. Chester had lived for four years - his whole life in a second story apartment which had a small outdoor balcony that he enjoyed. After a week or two at my house in the country, I noticed that he never tried to sneak out the door. So, one day I sat on my boot bench and left the door open while he came to play with my shoe laces. I talked with Chester about what I was planning to do in the garden and invited him to come with me. To my surprise he wandered over to the open doorway and gazed out and then looked back at me as if to say Are you sure it is safe out there? Where does it lead to? This threw me a curve! I had to reply that as far as I knew, it went on forever! That left me with as much to think about as Chester. My little house had a door that opened to the rest of the universe!
What a beautiful story. All this time, Chester had a tiny world - what awe that a vast world was just out there "beyond"! It's so funny how these little unexpected shifts in perspective can give us pause and put things in a new light. I'm delighted to think of Chester's broadening horizons, out there in the universe-garden 🤣
Just so beautiful Sydney. Tiny things are so fascinating and lovely to behold. I imagine tiny worlds existing all around us full of adventures for tiny beings just waiting for us to discover and enjoy them. Absolutely gorgeous photography 💛
Thank you! I imagine that, too, their tiny little lives, in their whole world where they think certain things are tiny and certain things are huge, just like us. I saw an ant stuck in a tiny sap droplet on a cherry tree once - except, of course, the sap droplet was as big as his whole body, and how tiny would I think a droplet as big as my whole body was? 🤣 The stem of a leaf formed his rescue bridge. Poor little ant's rough day - it's very hilarious to contemplate sometimes :)
A tiny snail, that is so cool! Their shells are so intricate, right down to the tiniest ones. I have a photo from the beach of a tiny little marine snail shell this same size, inhabited by a tiny little hermit crab...So much tiny-ness! 🤣
That is one amazing little tiny starfish! Your photos are all beautiful. I am so sorry for your loss, Sydney. We all very tiny in this big, busy world.
Exquisite. (Five year plan? Oh my goodness, I don’t think I’ve heard that concept since ... last century!??? I love being retired. Life just happens and you get to enjoy each little unfolding moment as it comes.) Enjoy. Thanks so much for sharing these beautiful photos and thoughts.

🤣Thank you! My husband and I are such planners 🤣 Homestead projects tend to be multi-year endeavors, so we usually have 5-7 years of a framework mapped out to line things up. But then, you can only take things one day at a time, so we do that, too! You certainly make retirement sound lovely, and you have the best attitude for it!
💕 Wow, Beth, thank you so much for your subscription! It's so fun to have connected across the globe - and I am so honestly touched and honored by your support :)

Thank you! Yes, exactly :) Tiny steps crossing distant horizons 🤣

Chester and me, too! Always been a moon and stars lover but now my mind searches beyond, too.
Such a beautiful post, Sydney.
Thanks, Rebecca, so glad you stopped by! :)
That starfish made my day 💜
Yay, mission accomplished! Starfish are good for that, especially tiny ones :) ⭐️

I love the phrase “softly amazed,” and the idea of being overwhelmed by something so tiny. Beautiful photos and words!
Thank you! It's a really neat feeling, kind of often-overlooked I think, but really beneficial :)
Love the tiny. I have a photo of a full grown snail, on my thumb... probably about the size of that starfish. So amazing.
