Arya the Cockatiel says that you have a good understanding of avians. Thought you might like to know.🐦🦜🕊

I am so touched, Perry, because I am well aware of Arya's wisdom on this topic, and just how lucky we all are that she continues to choose to share it with us :)

Happy day to you Sydney!

I so enjoyed what and how you wrote this essay. How observant about changing eye colors, feather colors’ transition from immature to mature. The immature’s “getting in line” indeed showed the bravado of teenagers. Quite glad she realized comfort zones exist!

Aw, I loved this :) I lol'd at the Marilyn Monroe. Such a sweet outing, thanks for the share. In my area, we have a ground bird, Spotted Towhee - the babes have dark brown eyes, and the adults bright red. Very striking.

Thanks, Lindsay! I'm so glad about the Marilyn Monroe bit - it definitely made me laugh when it popped into my brain, and I hoped someone else out there would share my quirky sense of humor 😉

Fascinating - I've seen that red eye on adult Towhees before, so sweet to think that they grow into it, too! Thanks for sharing :)

Although a mom-daughter duo is pretty great, I kept thinking of me and my younger sister as I read your essay! She's definitely more naughty. More other worldly. She'll definitely learn the ropes from me and follow my footsteps before taking the whole damn apple and flying away to trouble me haha!

That is hilarious, Mohika, I can totally picture that now and it has me dying!🤣 Shift the perspective that little bit, and everything takes on new meaning. Instead of Mom standing there all patient and gentle, now I see Big Sis just rolling her eyes 🤣

Awesome photo essay Sydney! I really like the story aspect and imagine in a year or two, Little Bit will be doing the same with one of her offspring.

Written in the highest form of anthropomorphism (which lots of time is not such a bad idea). I love your projecting the mother-daughter dynamic because you felt like it. Cool.

Thank you so much, Diane! You know, I was just having a chat in comments about this the other day. I think we kind of stretch our muscles of understanding and connection in some really valuable ways when we anthropomorphize. Thanks for pointing that out :)
