Beauty is everywhere isn’t it, Sydney? even when the lens is thrown out of focus. I love what you’re seeing here. Somehow, it boils down to the essentials: light and color. Thank you for sharing!
Yes, happily it’s always waiting to be noticed in new ways! So true, you begin by trying to capture this one subject well, but over time you get drawn into all these ways that light and color live in the world around us…New ways of seeing - is that part of what inspires collage for you, new ways of seeing connections in visual elements?
Yes! I’m drawn to collage because it frees my mind to make these visual connections. And somehow, thinking this way also influences the way I make pictures. I haven’t done any of my own photo montages for a long time but everything is connected and I know each practice informs the other.
Right! And seeing in new ways, making different connections, carries into everyday life, and that filters back into art. I’m often grateful for how much more I notice, now. People will obliviously breeze right by things I think are jaw-dropping-amazing. But then I notice something new for the first time and realize how much I still overlook, how much more there always is to notice!😂
I found my way here via your images of frost. My vision has shifted through the medium of water to a place where the feel of an image determines its look, and to something that more closely resembles my uncorrected vision. So you are very much speaking a language I relate to.
That’s so wonderful to hear, I’m so glad to meet you here! Isn’t there just so much more to this simple act we call “seeing”?! Lovely to think that water draws near to what you see, looking forward seeing more at Flow :)
This is truly beautiful, Sydney - your poetic words and the combined images are sublime. '...what would happen if I took this moment in nature and reduced it down to just light?' X

Thank you so much! I hope it's a fun and interesting way for all of us to see just a little bit more in our world :)
Excellent collection of images - especially like the side-by-side comparison of the wave photos. That centre image of the wave is intense.
Thanks so much, and thanks for restacking!
Looking at these photos it’s like they have a magnetic pull, urging you to look a little closer. What a lovely read 🥰
Thank you, I'm so glad they draw you in!
Sydney, Your views on light, what we see, what we don’t see are extremely interesting and revealing. I appreciate your work. D
Thanks, so glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you! That's one of my favorites, too :)
