you don't need all the answers to experience the goodness. A moment in nature doesn't have to be fully explained to have a positive effect on hearts and minds.
Beautifully written Sydney. I love your line about: "world around you dissolves, losing its soundtrack to a slow-motion background hum, as you become certain that you can hear your heartbeat..." Deer certainly bring that sense when I encounter them on my hikes.
This is a wonderful read (and of course stunning photos as always), Sydney. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up when I read about your dad.
Totally agree about animals and what they know. Our dog when I was a teenager always went to the window 20 minutes before my dad drove in - and his working hours were irregular.
Thank you! I'm so glad you could feel how special that story was 💕
Isn't that fascinating, on so many levels...how did the dog know? And then, his response to that knowledge was to sit at the window and look forward to his human's arrival! We have so much to learn :)
Thanks for your encouragement, it's always good to hear from you!
Beautiful, as always. Reminds me of when my cats slept with me, post surgery, last year. They only ever sleep in my son's room, yet they didn't leave my side in those early days of healing. Animals do know.
Good morning Deer: I cried in my coffee, with my coffee, reading this beautiful story. If you haven’t already, think about making this in a table top book “Dear Deer Book”. Your photography is Amazing, truly amazing.

Very... beautiful? poignant? life-affirmimg? tear-provoking? gentle? wise?
