Oh my goodness!! Only GOD!!! Beautiful!!! What a bountiful feast of beauty we have all around us, if we’d only take time to notice! Thanks for giving Asparagus its rightful place in the spotlight today!!💕
I live in the Intermountain West, where we depend on winter snowfall to fill our reservoirs for crop irrigation. The irrigation water flows out through the thirsty farmland via main canals, then irrigation ditches, and finally through fields that are corrugated with small channels through which the water flows to water the plants.
In early summer, asparagus grows along the ditch banks and during my high school summers when I worked for a farmer, I always enjoyed finding and harvesting wild asparagus. I gave it to the farmer’s wife, who cooked the tender young plants for our lunch.
Have you’ve ever had white asparagus? It is more common to eat that here in Germany than the green ones. It is amazing how different in taste they are.
I've heard of it, but haven't had it. From what I've read, you get white asparagus by keeping sunlight off of it. We don't have a convenient way to do that - but we did actually get the start of a white spear this year by piling mulch on top of it! What is the taste like?
I have never grown asparagus, but (first) your descriptions and (now) these lovely photos are making me want to give it a go. Who knew the blooms were so sweetly gorgeous? This is the first time I’ve listened to you read your words and hearing your voice is a delight!
Oh yay, Laura, I hope you try it! And thank you about the voiceover - it's hard to necessarily know if anyone's using or enjoying it, so I really appreciate the feedback 💕
Beautiful photos Sydney! Asparagus is so cool. Nature is such a gift!
Thanks so much, Pamela! It really is, a gift that's constantly revealing new things it's given me 🤣

So true, Kitha! Thanks for being amazed by asparagus with me :)
Beautiful, just beautiful! I love asparagus and everything about it - our asparagus season ended on the summer solstice - so roll on next year!
Such a comfort, these seasonal things that we can remember fondly and look forward to enjoying again! 💕
Feeeeeling super inspired to plant asparagus in my garden!!

Thank you so. I must plant. I too love Asparagus! Wonder if it will grow in my garden.
I hope so! I'd never grown it before moving to Maine. It has good cold hardiness, and I'm not sure how it responds to heat :)
Asparagus teaches patience, the first year is not the best.
Excellent point! It sure takes off, though :)
Bejewelled!
Yes, exactly, Gillian! So fancy 🤣
I never knew asparagus did that!
I know, I didn't remotely expect it - I was completely surprised, and so glad to have discovered it :)
Now I want to go and buy an asparagus plant ! Hah!
Yay, I hope you do! Asparagus for everyone! 🤣
Beautiful images Sydney - especially the photos with the glitterin dew. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much, Neil, and thanks very much for sharing!
Beautiful. Nature is such a delight. Thanks so much.
Thanks, Beth! Yes, always full of surprises 💕
Wonderful post, Sydney! The diamond imagery is fantastic and such a beautiful way to display the asparagus growing in your garden. Love it.:)
Thanks so much, Heidi! I never expected asparagus to be so much fun, but here we are 🤣
