Thanks for connecting here at Nature Moments, where we are making the world a better place, one nature connection at a time :) Be curious. Be amazed. And then do it again!
Thank you for your support! 💕
As a writer sharing moments of connection in nature, I never run out of things to share. Sometimes, however, I do run up against an invisible force that prevents any of the many things that I have to share from coalescing into a final form that is ready to share 🤣
Although I find myself with the beginnings of several wonderful nature stories, I also find myself trailing off into incompletion on many of them. This is the nature of timing, and the nature of writing - and the nature of nature!
And so, in the meantime, I’m sharing something a little different. It is, perhaps, reflective of a certain mood, a certain internal grappling with events on a grand scale, mirrored onto my personal scale, of a moment that feels rather muted, rather weighty, a moment in which nature wraps and folds itself around me as I wait for an unknown moment yet to come, wondering what’s in store…
oppositely
A looking glass From different sides Where down is up And left is right And nothing passes eye to eye. It’s obvious That you can’t see What’s absolutely plain to me, And you must find Your point to be As plain as mine, but conversely. We should find a common speech Or common ground to bridge the breach, But if I look in your direction, View fails at the intersection. When I see you looking back, I know your view is just as black. How can we grasp what we can’t reach? A problem doomed to failed solution, Each side pointing attribution, Mounting claims of persecution, Hardening in resolution, Escalating retribution, Bound for final dissolution. No human plight is quite so ominous As viewpoints oppositely obvious.
Human nature is complex… but we are shifting… and we will find a way out of this hall of mirrors and find balance. But as my mentor and shaman mama once wisely said to me - “Sometimes in nature finding balance can look like a volcanic explosion.”
Of course you’re a poet, too, Sydney! And yet, I should have known, and this poem only reflects the heart of all your deeply considered writings. Really nice! 💚
